Concert - In the Long Parlour

Sunday 24th June 2018

The Long Parlour, Hall Barn

Bringing the Chiltern Shakespeare Company’s summer season to a close, on a warm summer evening we intend to entertain and to charm with sonnets, songs and soliloquies, ditties, duets and ballads, with virtuoso operatic arias and ensembles.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome back the lovely Swiss soprano Eva Fiechter with Harriet Lawson at the piano. Joining them this year will be the Kazak bass baritone Baurzhan Anderzhanov in a programme of stunningly beautiful songs from Italy, France, Germany, England and Russia. Melancholy, Nostalgia, a touch of Madness and even some Shakespeare.

…Give me an excess of it; that surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die…
